EXPECTING A BABY? TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FREE WHOOPING COUGH VACCINATIONS

Since October 15, NZOZ Twój Lekarz facilities have been conducting free vaccinations against whooping cough for pregnant women. This is an extremely important initiative that allows not only to take care of the health of the mother-to-be, but above all to protect the newborn from the first minutes of its life. Whooping cough is a serious disease that is particularly dangerous for infants, even before they receive their first vaccinations. A child receives its first dose of the whooping cough vaccine only in the second month of life, which means that during this period it is exposed to serious health complications.

Vaccination of pregnant women is the best way to ensure protection of the child from the moment of birth. Thanks to this, the newborn, who does not yet have developed immunity, gains a protective barrier that can prevent whooping cough and related hospitalizations. Free vaccination is available for pregnant women between 27 and 36 weeks, without the need for additional referrals, and its implementation is decided by the primary care physician. If there is a risk of premature birth, the preparation can be administered after the 20th week of pregnancy.

Since mid-October, pertussis vaccines for pregnant women have been available in the treatment rooms of the NZOZ Twój Lekarz clinics in Kobierzyce and Ślęza, as well as in Wrocław's facilities at Skarbowców, Zwycięska, Zakładowa, Buforowa, Popowicka and Gagarina. To take part in the vaccination campaign, simply register with a primary care physician at 71 311 12 36, Monday through Friday, from 10:00 to 18:00.

The conversation touches on a key aspect of family medicine: the physician's role in health education and collaborative planning of next steps. The program doesn't end with diagnosis. Its goal is to create an individualized health plan and provide real support to the patient in changing their lifestyle.

Multiple visits, one e-documentation. Health under control.

A visit to a new doctor often begins with a complete health history: where diagnostic tests were performed, what the results were, and what medications were prescribed. Some documents are kept at home, others at the previous facility.

The discussion focuses on the practical aspects of participating in the program – from the first step, choosing a primary care facility, through completing the questionnaire, to interpreting test results and the role of the family doctor. Particular emphasis is placed on the importance of cardiovascular disease prevention and the role of lifestyle in reducing health risks.
