Where can I get sports medicine tests for children covered by the National Health Fund?

June is a time of preparation for summer camps, sports camps, tournaments, and more intense physical activity. For many parents, this means checking whether their child can safely train and go on organized recreation. Organizers of such camps are increasingly requiring a current certificate of no contraindications to sports participation. It's worth obtaining this in advance, calmly and without rushing.

When does a child need a sports medicine consultation?

A sports medicine examination is necessary when a child or adolescent is planning to begin or continue sports activities and the club or camp organizer requires confirmation that there are no health contraindications. This applies to children and adolescents up to 18 years of age.

This consultation isn't a formality. The doctor assesses the child's health in the context of physical activity. This gives parents greater confidence that training, sports trips, or competitions are safe for their child.

Where are sports medicine tests available under the National Health Fund?

In the NZOZ Twój Lekarz network, sports medicine consultations for children and adolescents are available at the Clinic in Tyniec Mały at Zdrowa Street 2. Qualification tests are conducted Dr. Joanna Stoch Stoj, specialist in family medicine.

Registration is carried out by phone at: 71 311 12 36, from Monday to Friday, during the hours 10:00 – 18:00.

A visit to the National Health Fund (NFZ) is free for patients registered with the Your Doctor (NZOZ Twój Lekarz) program. It includes a consultation and eligibility for sports participation. Unregistered patients can benefit from a private consultation.

What to prepare before your visit?

For the doctor to issue a certificate, current results of basic tests are required. A complete blood count, glucose level, and a general urinalysis should be available. The results should be taken no later than six months before the consultation.

This is an important part of assessing a child's health. Even if a young athlete feels well, laboratory tests can help identify abnormalities that should be discussed with a doctor before engaging in increased physical activity.

What does the patient gain?

The greatest benefit is peace of mind. A child can attend camp or participate in training after a medical evaluation, and the parent has confirmation that the decision was made based on consultation and current test results.

Sports medicine for children helps combine physical activity with safety. Before summer vacation, it's worth considering it as part of responsible preparation for movement, fun, and sporting challenges. This allows children to enjoy active recreation with greater comfort, and parents can feel confident that the young athlete's health has been properly assessed.
