Your Senior Doctor

The occasion was the International Day of Older Persons, which fell on October 1. Those residents of the commune who were over 60 and had signed up for consultations in advance could take advantage of free preventive tests: have their blood pressure and blood sugar levels measured, and also determine their body mass index, which allows them to assess the risk of developing, for example, atherosclerosis. All those willing to come to the clinic on Saturday, September 24, were accepted by the specialists present on site, as long as there were free places. The greatest interest was definitely in the advice of a dietician, for whom we closed the registration before the campaign. He advised on how to compose appropriate meals for the elderly, and also suggested how to take care of oneself so that a diet adapted to age and diseases would not be too much of a burden on the wallet. There was also no shortage of volunteers for a specialist in the treatment of chronic wounds and a psychologist. Since the cold and infection season is approaching, which is particularly dangerous for seniors, we additionally provided them with the opportunity to get vaccinated against flu at a promotional price of PLN 10 per person. Those who decided to go underwent on-site qualifying tests and, if their health permitted, were immediately vaccinated.
