Influenza is an infectious disease for which there is no fully effective cure. It is caused by viruses that undergo frequent mutations, which makes it difficult for the body to become immune to them. That is why it is worth getting vaccinated, which is the most effective known method of fighting influenza to date. – Compared to the prices of medicines that have to be purchased when we get sick, PLN 39 spent on the vaccine is a big saving – says Aleksandra Olender-Chlebik, a doctor from NZOZ “Twój Lekarz”. – The vaccine protects against the disease for 6 to 12 months after its administration, i.e. throughout the flu season. – he adds. Vaccinated people are more resistant to viruses. However, if they do get sick, it will be milder than in those who have not taken the vaccine. There is also a lower risk of complications.
Although anyone can get the flu, priority should be given to children up to 23 months of age, adults over 65 years of age, pregnant women, and those who are at greater risk of infection due to their profession, including teachers, drivers, salespeople, police officers, and firefighters.
