For over a dozen years now, on the third Monday of January, the media have been publishing information about the BLUE MONDAY, supposedly the most depressing day of the year. Cliff Arnall is credited with coining this pseudoscientific term. In 2004, the British psychologist announced the designation of the worst day of the year.

He intended to achieve this using a formula that took into account meteorological factors (short daylight hours, low sunlight), psychological factors (the awareness of failing to keep New Year's resolutions), and economic factors (the time that has passed since Christmas means that loans related to holiday purchases are due). It quickly turned out that the formula had nothing to do with science, but it nevertheless captured the collective imagination.

Experts emphasize that any excuse is a good one to raise awareness of depression, which has become the 21st-century disease of civilization. According to WHO estimates, over 350 million people worldwide suffer from it, including 1.5 million in Poland. "Despite such a large scale of the phenomenon, the problem of mental disorders remains a taboo subject for many people, which they are ashamed to talk about" – emphasizes the head of the NZOZ Twój Lekarz network, Mariola Madler – Litera.

The doctor adds that the most common symptoms of depression include a general low mood, a lack of joy, and a lack of energy and initiative. Such symptoms should prompt us to seek professional help, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic has significantly increased the number of patients requiring psychological support.

In response NZOZ Your Doctor strengthens the mental health team. The following specialists have joined the ranks of commercial service providers: child psychologist Marta Kucharczyk, which accepts patients in clinics WROCŁAW PROMENADY AND GAGARIN and psychologist Joanna Ostrejko-Sochal, which admits children and adults in clinics KOBIERZYCE and KRZYCKA.
