Speech therapist

A speech therapist is a specialist not only in speech articulation, but also in communication in a broad sense. He examines and corrects the processes that enable the proper development of a child's communication.

Diagnosis and intervention by a speech therapist include:

physiological basis: structure and efficiency of the speech apparatus, course of biological functions such as breathing, resting position of the lips, jaw and tongue, swallowing and chewing, occlusion
myofunctional diagnosis and indicative hearing test
cognitive and socio-emotional base, i.e. the child's competence to communicate consciously and effectively with the environment
assessment of speech development and speech defects resulting from disorders in the physiological and psychomotor areas.
