The aim of the preluxation clinic is the early detection and treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) in newborns and infants.

The development of medicine enables effective detection of various diseases already in the early period of life. Hip ultrasound is a non-invasive method of diagnosing hip joints, allowing for early detection of abnormalities such as hip dysplasia (DDH). The importance of this test results from the fact that early detection of abnormalities gives a chance to implement effective, non-invasive treatment and ensures proper development of the joint.

Ultrasound examination of the hips should be performed in newborns by the end of the 6th week of life. It is especially recommended for infants who are at risk of DDH due to factors such as a positive family history, female gender, twin or multiple pregnancy, oligohydramnios, breech delivery, or torticollis.

Regardless of these factors, the presence of positive Ortolani and Barlow signs in the clinical examination, unequal length of the lower limbs (e.g. Galeazzi knee test), or asymmetry of limb abduction in the hip joints should result in the implementation of DDH diagnostics.
