Fall is a time when we often struggle with colds and flu. It is worth knowing how to deal with them to quickly recover and not endanger others. Infectious disease specialist, Dr. Ewa Jarowicz, shares his knowledge and experience in the podcast WHAT DOES YOUR DOCTOR SAY?.

Here are some practical tips that may prove invaluable during the fall illness season:

GOT A COLD? STAY HOME!

“Stay at home, observe yourself for 2-3 days, and then treat yourself symptomatically,” advises Dr. Ewa Jarowicz. When the first symptoms of infection appear, it is best to stay at home so as not to spread the disease and to allow the body to regenerate.

OBSERVE THE SYMPTOMS!

For mild symptoms, such as a runny nose or headache, it is worth using over-the-counter medications. If symptoms worsen, you should contact your doctor. "Let's take care not only of our own health, but of the health of all those we encounter," the specialist reminds.

DON'T SPREAD THE INFECTION!

Wearing masks and washing hands can significantly reduce the risk of spreading infection.

MONITOR YOUR HEALTH!

It is especially important for older people to monitor their health closely. Dr. Jarowicz advises using a pulse oximeter if necessary and regularly measuring body temperature.

DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS AND REST!

Proper hydration and rest are key in the treatment of infectious diseases. "We don't drink enough fluids, and not just the elderly," reminds Dr. Jarowicz.

GET VACCINED AGAINST FLU!

“The flu vaccination, which we should absolutely get every year,” recommends Dr. Ewa Jarowicz. Vaccinations are an important part of prevention and can prevent serious complications. By using these tips, we can not only defeat infections faster, but also prevent them from spreading, taking care of our health and the health of our loved ones.
