DIABETES – THE FIRST NON-INFECTIOUS EPIDEMIC IN THE WORLD!

November 14 is WORLD DIABETES DAY. This is a good time to check if we are in the group at risk of the disease, the characteristic symptom of which is an increased level of glucose in the blood. Diabetes is caused by a problem with the production or action of insulin - an enzyme produced in the pancreas.

Long-term high blood sugar levels damage many organs, including the heart and blood vessels, kidneys, nerves, and eyes. According to the World Health Organization, diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases. Over 400 million people worldwide suffer from it. In Poland, around 3 million patients struggle with diabetes.

Specialists emphasize that it is a disease of civilization. The risk of its occurrence is increased by lack of exercise and an irrational diet leading to obesity. Can we prevent the disease by changing our lifestyle? Dr. Roszkowski answered this question on Radio Wrocław. We invite you to listen „"Conversations of the Day"”. Doctor Marcin Roszkowski sees patients every day at the Your Doctor Clinic in Ślęza.
